I don't think that you read the comments, I don't think anyone would disagree with you on integrity but you don't know the whole story. If someone is trying to sell an item they are going to list it in more then one spot, maybe you couldn't be contacted in time, maybe it was a buy it now auctin on ebay, there is no warning for that. You need to suck it up, you didn't get ripped off, you were informed, that is the least that should have been done and it was, that sounds like some intergrity and morals to me. you could have been left without any contact or information and even worse you could be parted with your money

I wouldn't be pissed about that as you could have ended up in the same situation if you bid on ebay
at least you didn't loose your money in the deal
actually if you think about it that could happen anywhere, anytime so whats your point of being pissed off?
Contract = Offer + Acceptance + Consideration
If all of that happened, the seller entered a legally binding agreement. The buyer got his money back and that is great, but he still got "screwed over". Being a "Man" means being a man of your word. If he sold it, then it is "Sold". That's why we have written contracts now because a man's word is meaningless and there are too many slimeballs and weasals out there (that is, it that is what really happened, just speaking in generalities here.)

Contract.
no where was it in writting, until that happens its doesn't mean that much, but yes a word of mouth agreement should be honored, but read the other suggestions, sometime situations are out of ones controll and it sounds like this situation was handle in the best way possible ...

I've moved on. I learned and went and bought new wheels and tires. I just assumed better of people. Yes, I got my money back in no time (4 minutes) but I had also made it very clear I can fly in my plane anywhere in the country on short notice. I was up front and honest and expect the same. End of story.

I agree 100%. That's like walking into a store, putting a deposit down on something to have them hold it for you, and then later on they sell it to someone else because they "felt like selling it".

Well, it happened to me once with my car... The guy made an offer, I accepted, and he made me commit to it and had the trip to pick it up planned. Then he backed out. Technically, I could sue him for breaching contract, but being in e-mail, it probably wouldn't happen. It happens every day, so you just have to work with honest people, (i.e. most of the CEG.)
