I was curious to see if the average age of marriage really is getting into the late 20's. Also thought it would be interesting for everyone to find out a little more about eachother by stating how old you were when you got married, how long you have been together... etc...

Fellow CEGers,
Any thoughts from you guys? Do you think the world is just changing its views on marriage? People are getting married in their late 20's nowadays!!! To you married CEGers... how old were you when you got married?!?!

I don't have time to answer the question on worldviews in respect to marriage. I could write a book on that topic honestly. Suffice it to say that marriage seems to be under attack at least here in the U.S. IMHO, and yes I feel it society is changing it's views on marriage and even any kind of long term relationship in general.

I was was 22 years old when I got married. I met my wife in freshmen year of college, dated her all throughout college, then we married when we finished college. We were sexually active together four months into our dating and lived together before marriage in the latter part of our college careers (omitting a LOT of detail here BTW). She was pregnant when we wed however we were engaged prior to her getting pregnant. I became a father at age 23, then again when I was 25, then again when I was 28. As I said previously, our marriage has not been easy. We had a LOT of growing up to do, and since I was an only child, and her the last of four daughters the next youngest of which is 14 years older than her, she effectively was an only child for the part of her life that she can remember. We were both very self centered and selfish and that didn't make for a very happy marriage for either of us for a number of years. As we have grown and matured as individuals and as a married couple, we've become more content with our marriage over time. On more than one occasion in the past we've knocked on the "D" word's door. We are both faithful born again Christians starting around age 27/28 for the both of us (we are 34 now). Yes our faith has made a difference however faith alone will not save any marriage IME. The divorce rate within the church pretty much mirrors the divorce rate in the secular world (including conservative Bible believing churches), so while I will say that our view of and relationship with the Lord is very important as Christians, it's not going to save us from ourselves so to speak. Me, I'm a big fan and a semi-frequent poster on the forums on this website:

It's an excellent way of approaching marriage or any serious relationship and will aid in learning how to create loving, dynamic marriages that last, even if the two spouses are very different in personality and life interests/goals, which is often the case since opposites attract. Read the Basic Concepts section for a good overview of the concepts on how to have a good marriage if you're interested. If you are really looking for good feedback specific to marriage I'd post on the MB forums in the General Questions or Before Marriage section, you'll get some good/better feedback there in comparison to this car forum.
