I think it'll be ok with the e-test if not you could just get a hot rod status for your car

BTW if anyone is wanting a 3L swap and wants someone to do it for them let me know

hum.. tempting. but im too broke for now, i justed put 1600$ of part on the car last week(and most of them at cost price)

I don't see how you would. A new engine will burn alot cleaner then an older engine, so I would imagine that the technician doing hte e-test will be quiet amazed at how clean the "old" contour burns .

A new engine yes. A engine of larger displacement is in my understanding going to give up possibley more emmisions then a smaller displacement one. That assumed it would have to run very well so as to not blow over. I think that is why Phil is asking.




I don't think engine size really has much to do with how clean the engine runs.

My Explorer with 4.0L engine consistantly runs cleaner than any other engine I've seen the e-test results from, wich would be all 4 of my family's 2.5L Contiques, a 3.8L Windstar, and a 3.0L Ranger.
Of couse the Explorer is certified for California LEV emission levels from the factory.
