I've had quite a bit of australian reds (Penfolds, Jacobs Creek, Black Opal,Lindemans, Black Swan, Wolf Blass, Banrock Station, Yellow Tail.....) and I have to disagree with some of what you are saying.
On a related note, if you have any buddies or contacts back in Australia that would be able to secure me a bottle of a partciclarly hard to find (in the states) wine, please let me know.

You've GOT to be kidding me; I can name dozens of Californian cabs and merlots that torpedo just about anything that the French, Italians, Spaniards and Aussies have put forth. That includes the labels that don't typically make it across Pacific or Atlantic...

Alright, CA does do some pansy-wines, but to paint Atlas, Stag's Leap, Frog's Leap, Cakebread, Chalk Hill and other vaunted cellars with the same brush as some of the cheap Zinfandel makers is nuts!!!
To be honest, wine is about the only thing I'll come running to defend CA on; give them another shot.
I didn't even read that part of Stazis post. Stazi is way out of line on those points.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I read that comment more as "Zinfandel is a wine only the Americans have bothered with, so it's not world-class." If he's confusing Zin with white zinfandel as you say, then we've got some issues

Kudos to all those that passed up on my flame ignition post! I think that may be a first in CEG history. But back to the wines.

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Do you want a flamebaiting spanking?
maybe everyone agreed with you. Or maybe they misread what you wrote. Everyone loves that kitty word.

I draw the line at insulting someone that can potentially ban my entire subnet from the site...

Jato, Is this the Alexander Valley or the Sonoma Valley cab? I am looking online (to buy it) and there are two different kinds.

Both bottles I've tried were Sonoma and they both were heavenly for the price, so I didn't get an "odd" bottle first time around.
I'll have to try the Alexander Valley label and hope it gives the same results.
