In that case, pick up a bottle of Mestizaje 2003 Bobal and Les Alcussess of the same year, along with the cab (make SURE you get the Sebastiani)...
Both are excellent Spanish vintages that will age well, cheap (under $10-15) and are quite drinkable now.
The Mestizaje is a wacky blend; it's got damn-well every variety of grape known to man. It's somewhat sharp to my tastes, but should mellow out a bit over time. Regardless, I'd still crack a bottle open today if asked.
I've been backing off of Italian Chianti Classico lately and have been hitting the Spanish reds myself. The latest Chiantis have been quite disappointing whereas most of the Spanish wines I've had have been surprisingly delightful.
