Actually no. The Cord L-29 and the later Cord 811/812 were the first American FWD cars in the late '20's early '30's.




But he said "mass produced." The Cord's were small-run cars that only the very wealthy could afford. When I think mass produced, to me that means any Joe Schmoe w/ a little bank can pick one up. Following that definition, the Toronado definitely is the first.
