That's the way I thought about the new Supra too (in a different way, of course). I love everything about the new Supra, but it seems like they should've gone with what it's always been known for: a bullet-proof turbo inline 6. It would be awfully weird to associate a deep, rumbling V8 exhaust note with the Toyota Supra. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't complain if it's still making 450 HP.

At least the japanese are realizing that all the power is in V8's and V10's and not 4 bangers.. took them long enough.

Sure more potential for power can be produced from more displacement, but their is nothing wrong with the lighter turbo 4 bangers. I don't know that many people who wouldn't take a Evo or Sti!

I also think that Toyota should stick to their inline turbo six. Those engines are built like a rock, and theirs something about the Supra's legacy that hurts to even think of putting in a v8. Toyota should keep the v8 idea, but not call it a Supra. Bring back the Supra with the inline turbo 6.

To each his own, however my partner at work has a 93 TT I-6, worked to the balls. Puts out over 600bhp, and as nuts as he is about the turbo (has a 9-3 2.3t as well) the name "Supra" alone put him on the buyers list for the 2008.

The thing that was cool about the Jap's especially Honda was their ability to put our good numbers through small displacement especially 4 bangers. V8's and up just dont sit well with me.

I agree that the NSX needs to be mid-engine and the Supra an I6 TT. Its unatural to make it any other way. Like when they ruined the Nova by slapping the name on the Toyota corolla and making the Impala a fwd V6 (1st gen of the newer bunch).

A Japanese company putting a V8 in a SPORTS CAR? That would create heresy in the rice community!

Interesting.....I still want my Solstice.

Is my car for sale? PM me if you're in South FL.

One of my favorite internet quotes is on SVTP about inline 6 supras. Its something along the lines of "All supras get 900whp with their first mod no matter what it is."

I like the look of this new one alot~!
