any country who can do what they did is a seriously bad muther f'er. i've thought about this myself and i agree except we would have to make sure everyone else stayed out of the fight. on the other hand, iran is welcome to the same deal india now has with us. knock off the stupid crap, behave and cooperate with the iaea and you can have as much nuclear energy as you want. express an intention to nuke your neighbor and we are gonna shut you down.

Do you have any idea of the consequences of a nuclear attack, ON ANY SCALE!?

Do you really think this country is the only one with nuclear weapons?

Do you have any idea the amount of damage even a retaliatory suitcase bomb can cause in this country?

Do you think we'll get away scott free like we did with hiroshima/nagasaki if we just start blowing the crap out of other countries??

These idiots currently running Iran are showing the world why they shouldn't be trusted with a hand-crank generator, much less a nuclear power facility...

Iran is completely aware that they are provoking and escalating this situation and with an enemy (the US) that can turn their military machine into confetti within a matter of weeks, even with our forces camping out in Iraq.

Remember, who says we have to stay in Iran and rebuild it? Our present record sucks at this for a number of reasons (some of our own making, some of it not), so if recent history has taught me anything, we just need to cause absolutely as much instability in Iran as we can and let the political vacuum fill up by itself.

This would solve the issue of having the current Iranian regime meddling with Iraqi affairs (a major problem in Iraq, given the export of arms, radicals, propaganda and instability that Iran is sending), so I see it as a win-win situation...

I'm being a bit tongue-in-cheek here, so to digress from this little fantasy, I would suggest that we ask the following questions:

1) Why would Iran play such a game of brinksmanship if they are well-aware of our military capabilities and our complete lack of tolerance of such a radical country getting a hold of the "bomb"? What do they hope to gain?

2) Why does one of the most energy-rich countries (oil) in the WORLD have to resort to using nuclear power, if it's not going to be put to military use?

Finally,

3) Does anyone actually think for a second that Israel is going to sit on their hands while Iran starts to enrich mass amounts of Uranium?

I'm beginning to think that the "Devil we don't know" (i.e., Iran as a US bombing range and another political quagmire in the Middle-East) may be preferable to the "Devil we do know" (i.e., a nuclear-armed Iran).

Maybe we could do something akin to what Britian tried in Iraq almost a century ago and talk to the Turks to get the Kurds in Iraq and Turkey to set up shop in Iran, after we pulverize their military into the ground...

God I miss the Cold War.

I have my own thoughts on this - not that different at all. Our Bad and Worst Choices on Iran

Within 10 years the world will again suffer the use of nuclear weapons in warfare - or not. Hard decisions must be made NOW.

Guess what? This generation of young people get to save the world. Really.

It makes me cry to think what the cost of all this will be in lives and in the loss of the security and freedom we all so stupidly take for granted.

Problem is he'll pretty much have to do it himself, since our troops are kinnd of busy ATM.

Unless you mean we should simply nuke Iran. That would certainly solve the problem of their weapons program, but it would cause a few other problems at the same time

The ground troops are busy. Steeda's beloved Air Force and the Navy can sure put a hurtin' on them though...

Already taking us (Navy too)!

I read in the Air Force Times that the Army is going to start relying more on Civil Engineers (i.e. me) and Security Forces (i.e. cops) to do things for them... We are engineers, so we can build/destroy/blow up whatever they want. SF are good at uhhh... convoys and security details I guess.

Not to mention everyone (save for a few) can do a convoy...
