Well, I've tried everything so far, and still no luck. I appreciate all the help though...it really should be running. I'm going to have my buddy who works at his family's shop come by after we finish swapping a new transmission in my 300ZX, and he will probably be able to figure it out. I'll post the solution once we get the Contour up and running again. Here are a few more pictures in the mean time.

Fuel line check valve, sitting properly

IMRC linkage

UIM on and torqued, vac lines / EGR / IAC connected

Throttle body and linkage on

Overall engine bay shot, minus plastic cover

Does it seem to be cranking fast? You may have washed the oil film off the cylinder walls, in which case you'll need to put a bit of oil into the cylinders to get compression back. This worked for me: the engine cranked just fine, but seemed loud and fast. Check your CEL codes, too, just in case something's showing up there.

Actually...yeah, that sounds like a pretty good description of it. How much oil would be reasonable to put in each cylinder; half a cap-full? My buddy couldn't make it today and it would be good if I could take care of the problem myself (with a little help from some CEG'ers ).

Yeah, I just put in maybe a teaspoon of oil into each cylinder, through the plug hole. Beware - it will smoke like a mother for quite a while!

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

I used a syringe to squirt about 1/2 tsp of 5w30 into each cylinder. It didn't start up right away, so I let it sit for a little bit, came back, and it started right up. It burned off mostly gas for a minute or so, but now runs fine, with no smoke (must have put just the right amount in there). I'm doing an oil change tonight, just in case gas or cleaner that got past the cylinder seals mixed in there, but other than that it is running well.

It's funny, because I saw the oil in the cylinder suggestion when I was searching at the beginning, but I thought there was no way cleaner got into the cylinders, because I always had 'em plugged. My best guess is that there was cleaner still left in the corners of the UIM, so that got sucked in, and the rest is history.

Thanks a ton!

Change your plugs too, they're probably fouled as a result of the oil in the combustion chamber. Cheap insurance.

I have the same symptoms, so it looks like I'll be doing this tomorrow and hoping for the best. Luckily I was planning on replacing the plugs and wires tomorrow anyway. Wish me luck haha.

Question. Should I wait to replace the plugs/wires till AFTER I do this. Sounds reasonable since so many have had the same trouble lately.
