Hey, that's terrible they're still giving you the run around.

http://www.contour.org/FAQ/recall/99M03/Recall-ONP%2099M03_files/r99m03r.htm

That is the letter for dealers, and owners I think, so read it since it will probably be of value to you.

Another option is to give them your VIN, and have them run an OASIS report for your tour and ask for the orignal warrenty start date. It won't matter whether you're the first owner or the last one since that will tell when the warrenty on the car was started.

I hope it'll work out, but still keep us informed.

Thanks anyway, But i already did all that, the only thing i haven't tried is going to a dealer in person.

The warranty start was as i thought,September 25,1995

they just wont budge the service manager at the original dealer said that if i could talk to a person thats had it done AFTER the 10years and find out how they did it to call him back, After he said He could not and if he could he didnt know how,

I dont think im gonna get it, but im gonna try at a 2nd dealer in person, Ill probably end up taping them up ever so carefully and hope the ones i cant see dont touch anything. and IF they DO, Bye bye Contour. It just doesn't make sense to pay 2000 bucks on a car thats only worth 1200 in good shape..

Id like to have a truck anyway, Not saying i dont like the contour, I do very much its a fun car and great gas mileage. But I bet trucks are allot easy to work on for us DIY'ers its not so tight underneath there so it would be easier to do oil changes, transmission and cooling sys flushes. and i would'nt think ( haven't looked) its very tight under the hood. I tell you one thing my 2004 Suburban is a dream, I don't do the work on it but that thing is bigger than some apartments under there.. lol

Well Thanks anyway, This really disappoints me. But on the brighter note the fine service manager said that he couldn't do anything, but he said they would be glad to wrap the wires backup, FOR A SMALL CHARGE. Im like Heck No. -- and IF i were to pay to have that done i wouldnt take it to him.

And i started telling him what was going on and describing it and told him the positive battery terminal cable was even cracking and he said so? most cars dont even have insulation on the battery cable!!!! <--- WHAT? You smoke'n somth'in jack?

I told him about the cooling fan wires being bare and that when he said if it bothered me so much then i could bring it in for the re insulating as i mentioned above.

Bah, Ive never liked that dealer anyway.

What's the Dealership's name. It would be in the groups best interest to avoid this place. If this is the service you get even after the vehicle was purchased there. I know I would want nothing to do with this business.

My parents got a warranty extension notice for the wiring harness on their 95 mystique. It told about the program and that the underhood wiring could become cracked and that it should be inspected.

Originally it was Bob Dyer Ford then changed to Garret & Dyer Ford And Currently its terry Moore Ford

In Conover,NC I think address is 610 Hwy 70.

Over the years and name changes unfortunately the staff never has changed.

The worst part is my family has bought 2 cars there. Needless to say we wont even go there for service now. i will go by there 1 more time to get print out of all records on this car. after that forget it.

Your not helping.. LoL j/k

Ok so you got one but the majority of the wiring harness posts i found said they were not aware of the recall. And the fact remains i never got one and the techs in 6 years or more (do the math every 3k miles 10k a year about 20 techs) Never mentioned it. And you can see the wires that are cracking when you open the hood.

And look at the money that was spent there: the car almost has 100,000 on it (98,800 est)

100,000/3,000 = 33 Service Jobs

24.95 - Cost of service
x 33 - Number of times serviced
-----------------------------------
823.35 - TOTAL SPENT IF THE CAR HAD ONLY 3,000 Mile SERVICE. Which is not really accurate because last time i went there i gave them 130 bucks.

Ford is under no obligation by any law to notify you of the "extended warranty". Don't [censored] to Ford, because they weren't obligated to do anything in the first place, and they're not going to help you now. Trust me, your Ford dealer doesn't care if they lose a customer because they pissed them off. Mine sure didn't. My best advice is to buy something else if you can afford it.

I had mentioned this to you in an earlier post, here's the link.

You might offer to pay a little towards the repair.

I also got a recall extension notice from Ford on my 96 SE.

And ford wonders why sales r down. Its not ford, just the crack heads selling and sevicing them.

I had 2 recall program problems here in RI, wait 3.

1st spring shields. effected contours built around 98, front springs can snap, and could hit the tire. Ripping it off the rim in some cases. They put the shields on.

Well going down the road the springs on both sides getting caught on the spring shields, making a very loud pa-ting that would vibrate out threw the car after each catch of the spring to shield. That turn lots of heads, going down the road.

So went back, they knew this, and said it happens.. Fixed them (so they said) didn't catch as much, but still there. I went back again. This time the tech took me too the car on the lift and said its the swaybar links, and gave me a price. I looked at him, told him to get my car off this lift now! I went home, worked on the shields myself (just overlaped them the otherway and pulled down on them alittle) and it was gone, you could see on the shield where it was catching. Went back and told the service manager the whole thing and he wasn't happy.

2nd water pump recall. They said they did it. water pump failed, they had no record of recall. It went in for lots of recalls if iirc they told me I was making that recall up. I found the recall number online, they said it was past the recall date. I told them that I knew this but they never did it when I brought it in during the recall time frame. Just got a sorry. Only plus side is the used car lot I got it from fixed it for free, though it leaked the first time. by the time I got back to RI from MA it was pooring under the car. EPA?

3rd The springs finally went last year. Dealer said 400 for just springs in the front Yes same clowns. I couldn't fine the damn extended service plain for the springs, and again I was making it up. This I used in my favor and told the wifey that it would be better to get the BAT suspension kit and I would put it on myself. 2 weeks later she found the extended service plain paper work.

Oh 4 recall problems.. Heater Blower motor resistor pack and wire. I had paper work it was done.. I had it with them, so just went direct to parts. Got the pack, and wire harness repair kit, came to 27 bucks. The guy said that I could get it fixed under recall I said I need it done for real, and done correctly. He just looked at me and said ok??
