The engine is over the rear and with wide sticky tires, it'll get plenty good enuff traction. AWD would slow it down more than "marginally" over the length of a road course.

But I guess you better tell the enzo, C6R, GTSR, GTOR, GT3 Cup Car, F1, NASCAR, etc. designers that they're doing it all wrong.




First of all, C6R and NASCAR are FR, GT3 is RR.

And Yeah. I guess the Murcielago, Diablo VT, Skyline, Veyron, WRC everything, Suzuki Escudo, Porsche 959 designers had absolutely no idea whatsoever about what they were doing...

There are merits to both drivetrains, but on a short, tight road course, an AWD system can be made to perform much better than usual using tricks to keep the engines from bogging down, as well as racing gearboxes/differentials to keep the power going to the ground without screwing with how well the car handles.

The later Skylines for instance have 4-wheel steering.
