This was a fairly decent thread, what it has to do with CEG...??? But I'd like to get my 2 cents in. I'm an old fart, I Enlisted in the Marine Corps in 73 and retired in 99. I now am a Government contractor. I travel in and out of the different branches of the armed forces and have made these observations. The Air force is like a well oiled Union. â??Thatâ??s not my jobâ? Should be their Motto. A lot of good it does you to have an ASVAB that is through the roof if you can only do one thing. The Army is so big it is like herding cats. There doesnâ??t seem to be unit cohesion or pride. I walk into a unit and there has to be at least 10 variants of the Uniform of the day, and nobody cares. The Navy is an animal all itâ??s self. Get on a boat (ship), get 50 miles off shore and all bet are off. But I will say this, sound GQ flight deck or otherwise and those boys know what they are doing. Now my beloved Marine Corps. The Marine Corps is a fully self sustained fighting force. The Mission of the Marine Corps is to take and hold advanced enemy position for 30 days.
The Marine Corps has its own Air Force which includes winged and rotor transport, itâ??s
Own bomber wing F/A, and its own close air support, both rotor and fixed wing. And
The techâ??s are not limited to a particular Air Craft or job. They just fix it. The Marines have their own support groups, which include heavy artillery, and tracked vehicles. Lastly and more importantly every Marine is a rifleman first and foremost no matter if your re-con or supply, the L/Cpl or the CG. Every year Marines qualify with their weapon. Every Marine goes to the field to study small unit tactics, like to see an Air Force box kicker do that. All kidding aside all of our guys are doing a hell of a job in this situation our country is in. God Bless them all.
