The ARMY is GHEY!!!!!!!
......but not quite as gay as the Chair Farce...
Damn, I had tried to post, but I guess I navigated away from the preview page
Anyway, reading the post, it sounds like Army basic is easier than the 6 week AF basic I took about 2 years ago.
...and they just made the AF basic tougher. It's now 9 weeks, matching the Army's length.
And yes, I know that there is additional AIT training... but there is also tech school training in the AF. I went to the 6 weeks of basic immediately to 7.5 months of tech school.
Back when i went through basic AF we had FTX which was 2 days, then they had warrior week. I acctually helped make some of the stuff for warrior week.
But yes 6 week basic is what i did, As a Element leader. Whould have been honor Grad but all the Element leaders and Dorm chief got LOC's for the dorm being dirty one day. Scored a 96% on the Final basic test.
then like 16 weeks of Electronic Prinipals and another 20 some weeks of Avionics.
My self being the natural leader and Insane Genius that i am i got out of almost All PT in tech school

You know what is gonna happen is when they get done with AIT and get to their units they are going to be in complete shock!! I hope if I get activated I am not with one of these new soldiers, or they will be in for some hard training. they are going to have to learn some time. IF NOT NOW THEN AT WAR.

No seperate FTX for me, but did do the 1 week of warrior week, then went back and did the obstacle course right before graduation. I guess it was technically 7 weeks, since we did do crap in "zero week."
The extra 2.5 weeks are for extra small arms and medical skills according to this.
I think I got a 93% on that test.
All the Avionics chicks were put in our dorm when I was there Definitely a lot better looking than CE chicks.
We had this SMSgt guy that was the main MTL... I think all he did was attend PT. We knew him as "Scuba Steve" since all he wore was spandex (doesn't have anything to do with this). But yes, it's always nice to have ropes as friends so they can mark you on the roster...

Where were you in Tech school at???
I was on medina Annex at Lackland for EP then Sheppard for Avionics.
Ill never forget the frist time i ever saw the B-2. I was running one of the few times i accutally went and a b-2 flew right over our heads.
I already knew i was going to whiteman and i just stopped running. That plane is Flat out amazing, even after 3 years working on it and knowing pretty much everything when I see one im still in awe...........

A few highlights:
All other bivouacs were canceled due to below freezing temperatue and snow. We charged ahead and camped in snow in [censored] trainee gear inlcuding pup-tents.
Finished range training early one day, so they made us walk back 8-miles in full gear whit it was raining/slushy snow. Then proceeded to throw CS gas at us
Shaved my head bald the day beofe AIT graduation
Our platoon won a competition and were treated to 15-minutes at the shopette to grab a coke & candy bar. Then as we marched back to our barracks we were ordered into PT gear and ran a 4-mile Indian run.
For those who scored under 250 on their PT tests (max 300) were not allowed their Sunday phone call home.

Well, my MOS was decided by me having stipulations on my enlistemnt: Maximum 3yr term with the Army College fund. I only had 3-options with those terms yet because of my GT score, all 212 jobs were available to me if I chose to give up my College fund and enlist longer. I sucked it up and went into a Combat MOS and walked with $35K of college money.
I put that College money to good use and am coming up on my 6th year out of University.

Yeah, that sounds like your basic Marine Corps boot camp......doesn't sound like anything extra ordinary.
You guys got a phone call EVERY sunday? Try two phone calls home during the 13 weeks of basic.

LOL Right!
And in reality, the Marine Corps doesn't need the Air Force to get around...hence the term Marine (My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment)

Sheppard...
My job is very unexciting, but essential none the less.
About the coolest thing about my job, I can say:
I get paid to get high!
(note for the uninformed, part of my job is being a electrical lineman... means we have to climb poles and work sometimes for hours on end)
