Old Problem - P0420

Update:
My ECT coolant had air in the system due to a slow leak. I ran engine with the cap off for about 15 minutes to remove the air, then filled system. ECT returned to normal.

I then built/installed a MIL Eliminator (Cost $2.50) - So far so good. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth if for me to drop the cat and bust out the brick.

I'm a little worried that the cat may be plugged. I say this because I can hold my hand over the exhaust while the engine is idling at ~2,000 rpms.

Opinions?

Pull the upstream O2 sensor and see if the engine breathes better.

If so, the cat's internals have clogged.
