why is this based on rap when its not even a rap song? is it not r&b? i dont even understand what the fuss is about. if you dont like it dont listen to it.
you guys have a problem when us the "tuner crowd" get looked at in a certain way but here you guys are doing it to rap fans. i will not tell anyone that what they like or listen to is garbage. thats like someone saying to you your contour is a p.o.s

Yet everyone has their own preferences, so they will speak their mind. I usually stay "liberal" about commenting on people's styles or taste in music; either because I don't know 90% of the music out there or because it would start a conflicting topic for each other. It prevents causing flames/fighting/etc.
But honestly, I agree with Ryan. Though I highly doubt the girls in those videos are crying in offense to their million dollar contracts!

Rap/R&B/Pop sucks monkey pole!  All they do is either dance, THEN sing; or talk. I can't stand stupid ass rap/R&B songs where all they do is talk with total disregard to the beat they're trying to "rap" to. They're all retards with no talent! Well, most of them. I'm currently on the Sweedish metal band trend. I can't get enough of em! Just got my " Violent Work of Art" CD, it kicks ass. Too bad I'm in the minority with my music selection, everyone else turns it to the local German Top 40 station, which repeats "my humps" and some biggie song over and over and over and over and over and over and over, yet people still listen to it.  I do like some rap, like southern stuff.

And the target audience is typically a bunch of ignorant people. There aren't too many educated, self-respecting people who listen to that kind of music. And the videos I've seen, when flipping through the channels, are not ones in clubs, but outside der cribs pimpin der rides, wif hoes bunch dat booty etc....but whatever, IMO, its garbage.
How long has MTV been around?! 24 years?! How many people have listened to and been affected by rap music!? You do realize that college students listen to rap!? So everyone that listens to rap is ignorant...please...

And FYI, Mtv, has only been rap/r&b for the last few years. It used to play a majority of rock and other types of music. The only rap you usually used to see on it was Ed Lover and Dr. Dre's show "Yo! Mtv Raps" so don't say Mtv has played rap for 24 years.

There are ignorant people that listen to every kind of music. That is a dumb arguement.
Music, rap or otherwise, is aimed at ANYONE that will enjoy it. If you consider most people that listen to a certain kind of music as ignorant, then you are stereotyping. That's quite a bad stereotype to have, because there are so many un-ignorant people that happen to listen to rap.
I think it goes back to what Andrew said. Rap potrays a certain image, and that image could definitely make a single minded person think that rap listeners are ignorant.
