Looking at 1 of the 5 or so located in Jamiaca for our Honeymoon in October. Has anybody been to any of them and recommend them or not? Kind of leaning towards Montego Bay since it is a Royal carribean stop, thinking they may have more shopping (duty free) outside the walls, but the others look sooo nice too.

Any feedback on Sandals resorts in general is welcome too! TIA!

USVI, St. John was beautiful and laid back. Plenty of great places to eat. Stayed at Gallows Point, price way good place was very convenient to down town and had a great honeymoon package. All inclusive not necessary because downtown and everything you need is a five min walk away. St Thomas has tons of great shopping.

Anyway have fun. Sorry I'm no help on your island.

All I've ever heard about the Jamaican resorts is that your girl will get hit on repeatedly by the natives...........

could be a good thing if you swing that way though

Had friend that honeymooned there. Said resort was nice but out of the resort was rough. I've stayed at Sandals royal bahamian in Nassau. All I can say about that resort is it was as close to perfection as I've ever experienced. Bad thing is after staying there, all other vacations seem to disappoint in some way. I think that one is their "flagship" resort. Man that was a great vacation....

I went to Montego Bay for a family trip in 1998 I think it was. We stayed that the Holiday Inn right next door to Sandals. We had a blast. Lots to do on the resort. And that's where me, my brother and my dad got hooke don scuba diving. Just did an intro in the pool for free and then I had my certification 3 weeks later when we came back. I would definetly go back there. Nice and relaxing, but still lots to do if you want.

BTW, be careful when you leave the resort in that area. Can get a little scarey sometimes. I suggest taking a bus tour. Small bus.

Have FUN!

I just went on a cruise to Jamaica in January.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with Jamaica. It is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere and it is extremely dangerous if you leave the resort area or port terminal with an escort or with a tour. I would look into Cancun. I went there for my honeymoon and it was great. They should have it rebuilt from Hurricane Katrina and you can probably get a good deal. Or take a cruise. The places that I have visited in the carribean that I would like to visit again are Grand Cayman , St. Thomas and Cancun.

THATS WHERE I WENT ON MY HONEMOON!!! 1.5 yrs ago. that place was awesome!!

We were looking at the jamaican sandals and all the advisor reports said that it was pretty scary.. the montego bay location is right next to the air port so you have planes flying right over your head 24-7. The safer ones are typically the more expensive ones such as Dunns river falls. I've also heard rumors of stray cats and dogs running around the outside resturants. It is also very dangerous to leave the grounds and they are typically guarded by armed police 24/7.. If you leave the resort you have to watch out for scams and people trying to sell you drugs.
St lucia was kick ass and the locals are all so nice there.. lots to do on the island and the all inclusive deal kicks ass.. All the free drinks you can handle from 9am - 2am.. I remember I was hungry around 1am one morning so I woke up, walked down to one of the resturants on the beach, grabbed a piece of cheesecake and walked back to the room. also remember that all entertainment and food is free.

The diff in price between the Grand St. Lucian and the jamaican resorts isn't so much, you will just pay more in air fare to get down there. If you go to St lucia let me know, I'll give you some $$ to pick up some Bounty Rum.. that stuff is awesome!!
