I don't want to comment too much on this discussion, though I find it very interesting. So I have two quick points.
One drive it before you disregard it. It is quite impressive and I have driven an SVT 2.5 powered Focus for comparison.
Second some info to digest Size/Space concerns.

That's what a real enthusiast is. I want the car to look good, feel good, drive good, and BE good. As far as size... I'm thinking overall length. The Focus 4-door is like 7" shorter than the Contour... I want my car to be in the 185" overall length neighborhood.

[/b][/QUOTE] It's cool that witht the right parts, you can make a US Focus look indistinguishable from a Euro Focus. Can't do that with a Contour! Plus, I think they look BADASS with those twin headlamp kits!

I wonder what the AEM Cold air intake and an aftermarket exhaust will do for the SVT. You can get headers as well. I'd like to see what the power output is going to be with those babies on. A 10hp gain would be great. Imagine a 180hp 4banger from Ford NA. Not bad and and has good gas mileage. Not much trunk space compared the the Contour though would be why some are complaining if not for the looks. I think the car looks great but hey thats just me.

I'm a HUGE fan of the 3 door Focus and I would buy one if I didn't have my CSVT, even though I need a 4 door because I have 2 kids. That car, with the way Ford has set it up, looks great The interior treatment and "winter package" alone would be good enough for me, then you get the sweet car that goes around it

Before I found my CSVT, I had looked at a V6 Mustang and a Focus ZX3. I vastly prefer the styling of the hatchback for whatever reason, so I am glad that SVT chose that model, despite the door drawbacks (I like coupes for style in general anyway.) If I were to chose between the above two, I'd take the ZX3 in a heartbeat. If I had to give you my opinion of which has better overall feel, my CSVT or the ZX3 I'd say it's a tight match and I'd have to drive both hard to give a good answer. If the ZX3 can leave an imprint of quality, control, pep (albeit not outright SPEED) and distinction, I'd say the FSVT has an excellent shot at leaving a lasting impression on anyone who drives on. Besides the turning radius is great on that car, and I hate the turning radius on the CSVT.

Whoa!! What a controversial thread! Is the estimated price of $18,000 MSRP or invoice? Originally posted by bnoon: the SVT Focus doesn't have a name I noticed that...will it?
