help! my 98 svt contour is leaking fluid out of the rack so me and my buddy are replacing it, my question is the parts store has two different part numbers one for the 15 inch wheels the other for 16 inch (assuming the svt model) my friend who works for a toyota dealership and can get a good deal on an quality aftermarket rack, that toyota deals with. only downside is they only have one part number. is their really any difference between the svt model rack and the other contours?

think the difference is the travel limiters for the larger 16" wheels

That is correct. The SVT one is for 16" wheels. The turn stops are built into the rack, and the 16" wheels need a little more room. Other that the stops, there is no difference.

Doing at the rack at the same time as your motor is a bonus. I lucked out: had my steering rack replaced, sent the tranny to TH, and had the headers put in during the same downtime with the front subframe off.
