Hi,

This is my ride 95 Contour GL 2.0L 4Cyl. 98,330 Miles

Just waxed with meguiars NXT wax blacked tires with Meguiars gel and blacked trim with Mothers Back to Black.

Meh. not to bad..

Meh...

but looks arent everything.. need to run head gasket sealer though it and replace a/c accumulator..

but the point of this post was to ask your opinion on how to detail it out more like the right rear wheel is all scratched up (this way when i bought)

ICK!

How do i fix that without buying new?

Also there where a few scratches on the paint and chrome when i bought it..

Keys scratching paint (appears to be)

Some IDIOT slammed door into her?

Chrome scratched some how DUM dog or cat maybe?

And headlights are yellowed i have read about sanding them but this just does not seem like an intelligent thing to do... I also seen where transmission fluid does the trick but haven't tried.. i tried putting the NXT wax on them shined them up nice but did nothing for yellow..

EWWW!

Any ideas?

Looks pretty good.

Why doesn't the headlight sanding seem "intelligent"? It works! You are using very high grit sandpaper (1000 +) and really only taking the damaged (yellowed) layer off.

I know there are many that swear by this method. I've done it a few times myself, works great!

I doubt there is much you can do for that wheel cover. Probably best just to replace it, if it bothers you. Check out a junkyard, or ebay...

Good luck!

I would just paint the chrome.

I agree. Paint the chrome strip on the rear bumper body color. I noticed that there is no chrome strip on the front bumper.

Heck, just remove the chrome piece and clean the part it was glued on. I did that and it looks 10,000x better than the cruddy chrome on it.

The hubs, your better off replacing them w/ another set of hub caps or upgrade to rims. If you go to the juck yard see if you can salvage any of the E0 or E1 rims from another contour/mystique.

Looks to be a really clean pre-98! If you're hell bent on keeping those wheel covers, get yourself a multi-pack of sandpaper, some primer, aluminum wheel paint, and some clear coat. Sand the bad areas down from lowest grit to highest until smooth. Shoot the areas with primer(2 coats). Then shoot them with the wheel paint. I'd do 2-3 coats, 24 hours apart. Once they're dry, do a few coats of cleacoat. SHIZZAAAAM, brand new wheel covers. I had to do this with the center caps on my SHO.
