If you are saying that the new cap is not the the correct replacement for the original tank, I don't know what good that would do. In fact, it might be worse if the coolant tank is not able to hold pressure due to the cap neck not being long enough for the tank to block the hole for the hose (to hold pressure). Once again, I would suggest using the cap which came with the tank that you bought.
