Holy Kanoly! My local powdercoat shop did my valve covers, upper intake manifold, and throttle body for $200.

Yes, they are cheaper, but its the cost of living difference down here.

IMO, this is something that should be left done to the professionals.

BTW, here's mine done by the same guys that did Jim's.

the key is the part prep.

It's a balance between equipment, materials and part prep. I'm speaking from experience here. A quality finish like that seen in the picture of the profesional's product vs PCman is exactly the reason i voiced so much concern when he first started offering services. IF you have quality equipment, products AND prep your surfaces properly(can be very tediouos in some instances) you'll end up with a nice finish. Just don't expect perfect profesional quality finishes from products of poor quality(like the items used by most do-it-yourselfers like PCman).

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Dealing with PCman, looks like I was one of the lucky ones. He did my TB and MAF and when I got them back they were nicely done.

It took forever to get them back. But again, I was lucky as some still don't have their parts back from him.

I took my TB and MAF to a local place and had them re-done in a different color. IIRC, I had both done for $35 (local place)and they were done the same day.

The difference in the powdercoating quality on the valve cover is amazing. The shot of the VC PCman did looks terrible.
