Found out it's not the ABS at all--it's a crapped out rear passenger-side wheel bearing. The ABS acts up at random times (no light or anything), and the mechanic said there's nothing wrong with the system. But as a bonus, the mechanic shows me a beautifully cracked front driver's side spring.
So now it's decision time:
--do I have just the one spring replaced? I have 112K on my car, so I'm thinking just one new spring might make the car a little cockeyed.
--do I just get new SVT struts & springs for the front? I had the rear's done just over a year ago.
Old car: '98 SVT T-Red
K&N air filter; Ford Focus RS shift knob. Off to be auctioned off somewhere.
New car: 2003 Honda Accord DX Sedan, 5-speed.

or at least Bat Springs for now, then get struts later if you are concerned about getting life out of the new struts you just put in the rear.
also spring and struts I believe should be replaced in pairs, like tires ...

Hmmmm...interesting. Just from kicking around here for a while, I always thought that SVT springs were not included in the recall. Can't hurt to try, though.
I dunno about the BAT kit, although I have heard good things. It's just that I have put an absolutely silly amount of money into this car--and I'm not talking mods or updgrades.

replace both springs. Over time springs loose their resilency (springiness) Replacing the one that is cracked will get you back on the road for minimal cost but the spring on the other side may be settled a bit and lost some of its resilency so the car may sit an almost un-noticable ammount lower and ride slightly different on the side of the old spring.
Also, whats not to say that the spring that is not cracked right now has a large ammount of work hardening in the metal which will lead to it cracking wether it be next month or 50k miles from now. Sooner or later the other spring will crack.

Yeah, I may be coming to decision time with my car. I may let someone else get new springs.
