The consensus way back when was that signatures were ok to have for sale or want ads. Since the forum software enforces a fairly small limit on the size of signatures and doesn't allow pictures, the mods/admins felt that no harm would be done by letting people post short ads. Most of the time, because signatures are kept so short, people have to say something like "check my ad in the classifieds" anyway.

For the record, I don't discriminate on what the ad contains. It was explained by Lance that classified ads weren't allowed... that's it. That, much like other issues including posting of girls in bikinis in pics & vids, is something that was made very clear to me on what to do by the owner of this site and are things I've been enforcing despite the opinions of others (sorry Kev). I also understand that times change, and it would actually be nice to know where he stands. If he says its ok to allow ads in local forums, I'm cool with it, but rule #13 is still on the books and needs to be updated.

It just seems retarded to be able to advertise prices in your signature, but not threads :shrug: but whatever.
