ding ding ding, 89+ Corolla will never die.

Good choice. 1990 or earlier Geo Prism is the same car.

Don't forget the Mazda 323, Mercury Tracer. Those can be nice cars to tool around in with few mechanical problems.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

had a 91 prism, up to 163K on it before a woman ran a red light and I broad sided her. She had to have her van away and I drove my car another 2 months. Got $3K for it from the insurance too. I have a 94 tracer as well...up to around 150K on it. Not as good as the prism but a decent enough car. LOOK at your states website for auction cars.....CHEAP! CHEAP! www.mnsurplus.org for MN's....from that you can see some decent used cars from the online auction going for under $1K.

anything with a GM 3800 series motor!

It will last forever! I would offer her the sale of my Buick Lesabre, but AZ is a bit far.

Early 90s escort.
I paid $1400 for mine and overpaid. It's a gt and only had 75k miles. A base model could be had for a good bit cheaper.

Or like map said, anything with a gm 3800.

Much of what has been said so far.

-91+ Escort/Tracer. A friend of mine bought one for $500 owned it for two years trouble free (had to replace the fan belt, that is all I know of) and sold it two years later for $750. Not bad
-Corolla/Prizm

yeah, Toyota Corollas and Civics are pretty good cars to get. Good luck and I wish her luck.

the lady i bought it off of ran something over and smashed the oil filter, and locked the motor
