I grabbed that pic from a past discussion, similar to this one , about 1.5 years ago. I think TH chimed in then about the plenum capacity of the original Porsche UIM being optimal for the combustion chamber volume... then Ford cut it to 1/2 its size. During that discussion, it was said that Ford did it to reduce performance and thus reduce temps as the original design ran hotter than our current models.

Perhaps the easiest modification to the UIM would be to cut off the long edge of each plenum... weld on a 2-3 inch extention then weld the edge back on. Of course there would now be rough material inside the plenums, but a cycle through extrudehone would help with that.

Is that correct TH-channeled-CEG'r?

That sounds like a novel idea, but I have no idea if the affects will be effective enough to warrant the costs...(is that right? Affect/effect) Anyways...log style intake manifolds are ideal for boosted applications, but on an NA motor it tends to kill airflow. That is just my limited understanding. I will email terry later today.

secondries and is a 4 valve head etc....lets hope they

I take it this was Terry's post before the advent of the SVT Focus intake manifold?

heres an idea. motorized runners, long in low rpms, and then shorter in higher rpms, like dicussed, but the runner tubes are motorized so that they decrease accordingly as the rpms increase.

Mazda did that with their 20B Le Mans motors.

All of this discussion, is basically pointless though. People need to stop trying to squeeze out fantasy hp with trivial BS mods that cost an arm and a leg. If you want serious hp, then get a power adder (turbo, N2O) or get a 3L, or both.

True that...I am learning the hard way...Just like the wagner intake. It cost $$$ to be different thats for sure.

And look at wagner now...

None of us locals will go there anymore... the shop seems really shady. Kinda funny that I never noticed when I was there, at the shop.

So just a dead end extension on the end of the plenums?

I was thinking the best way to increase the plenum size was to pretty much model after the SHO intake. They're plenum made a complete loop and essentially connected all of the runners to a big 'O' shapped plenum. Like this:
