Wow .. if that's how you handle any little thing going wrong with the car (frozen latch? rattling speaker? both easily and cheaply fixed..), I hate to see how you handle family problems ...

Used? Please tell us you meant rebuilt. You should take a hint from gilroy.

Yep,I regret trading that car in for this junker. It had 253 000km on it,with a 1 year old ATX in it. Fully upgraded stereo, tint, swapped in a leather interior, loved the car,but the thing was just so terrible on gas I couldn't stand filling up 3 times a week, rather than once a week which I do now.

Saying I didn't maintain the Contour well is [censored]. I babied that thing from the day I bought it. Yes,it had 260k on it,was tired, but I fixed everything that needed to be,and more. I bought the car as a project, which was well on it's way, then after figuring out how much more money I had to dump into the car to make it the way I wanted it,I could have bought a new car instead,so that's the plan. Why keep wasting my money on an 11 year old car with 300k? The body is still good,no rust, but needs a repaint. I'm the 2nd owner.

it annoys me with this car that I have already spent so much money and effort repairing it,that thing just keep failing on it,and it's just not worth it to keep maintaining it anymore. The probably isn't even worth $500 at an auction. As for the tranny, yes,it was used,NOT rebuilt.I had a 30 day warranty on it,and it's no problem that it's lasted me 6 months so far.

I kind of put my foot in my mouth with this car, because I sorta bought it in haste. I had previously called up a seller with a blue '95 Contour SE V6 MTX,which was THE car I was looking for at the time. Deposit was paid, and I was to pick the car up in a week. 2 days later,I got a phone call, and it was the seller saying things came up and she needed to keep the car for another 6 months, and refunded me my deposit. A few days later,I happened to be scouring the Auto Trader ads and saw an ad for a '95 Contour V6 MTX at the local Ford dealer in town here. Milage wasn't listed, but it had everything I was looking for. I went and took a look at it. Body was straight, interior in good shape, price was $200 cheaper than the SE,and the dealer offered me a straight trade on my Mystique and I just had to pay the taxes. I couldn't resist. Bought the car, without a warranty,as is,and took it to get saftied. I knew I was in over my head after I cost me the same amount to safety the car as what the original asking price was. I had everything fixed and the car was fine, until about 15 000km into my ownership,EVERYTHING else just failed and broke all at the same time, all within like a 3 week window. Tranny, water pump & belt,cv shaft, wheel bearings, ball joints, starter motor all went on me.

It's just not worth fixing anymore.

Complaining must make him so happy. Maybe we should take up a collection and get him the car he apparently really wants and deserves: a Yugo.

yeah, you notice that's only one of several trucks listed?

You have nearly 200,000 miles on a 12 year old chassis that has countless damage you tell us you inflicted yourself. Then you are surprised, pissed, and whine like a baby because of it.

Instead of getting a new vehicle you need to get a clue. You should have just enough money to buy a used one. Well save some for driving school because by your stories you are a danger and menace to all the other drivers on the road.

That as a bit of hypocritical banter or just pure ignorance you state other then the used slushbox (which may have been bad to begin with since you never checked it out ) the car is 100% mechanically sound, at 200k miles.

Hmmm, the only damage I inflicted myself was a broken speaker grille and a dent in the fender. Wow,big deal. Cosmetic crap. The car looks like [censored] anyways,so it doesn't bother me. It runs well, but the MANUAL tranny is acting up.

Have you lubed the shift linkage under the floor? That might help some.
