I have contemplated about changing the starter, just need some funds right now. I am hoping that it wouldn't cost me a lot of money and would appreciate if you guys can let me know where a good shop would be around Mississauga. I regularly go to a small shop that a friend of mine goes to, and he ahs been very good with prices. I have not asked him yet how much it would be, but I also know someone who works for a dealership. Would getting a starter motor from a dealership for cost be cheaper than from anywhere else?

My mechanic charged me about $225 for the starter, installed.

If I could offer some advice, don't wait for the starter to go. Apparently the Contour is known for the starter dying in the start position as mine did and damaging the flywheel. I wish I had just changed mine when it began not behaving. I would have saved myself a lot of trouble.

Thanks Daniel. Where is you mechanic located? That sounds like a very good price for a starter installed. Would he do it for the same price? Send me a PM. Thanks again for the info.
