Many cars can be had for below invoice. Done in Florida all the time & dealers often advertise "$500 below invoice". The art of the deal don't ya know. Timing is important too. End of the month when quotas are met & salesmen are just padding their numbers, or those not meeting quota are hungry to get a deal on the books; end of model year leftovers; even the demos can be had for a deeply discounted price and have never been titled.

Been a while since I've purchased a car new, but one deal I made was for a very nice Mercury Tracer 5 door - a demo with 1190 miles on it. I got it for 20% below sticker, plus tax, ect. End of model year, there were only a few Tracers left at the dealer, other dealers were out of stock.

Sticker about $14,500
Sale price was $11,600 (roughly)
and I had a trade in (Grand Marquis with 188,000 miles) so my final out the door price was $9700 and change plus tax, etc. I was a happy guy, and the whole deal took less than an hour till I was drivin' my new car home.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Many cars can be, but the Azera isn't one of them. It's fetching a premium and you're lucky to get a discount off sticker at all right now, let alone several thousand dollars.

If it were me I would probably go with a 330i. You can get a 2001-2004 with less than 50,000 miles right in your price range. The cars are extremely reliable and get good gas mileage. Not to mention the car would probably be a lot of fun to drive, gotta love that straight six.

Well, if you can't fork an Azera, which was my inital choice when I stepped in this thread, step down a level and check out the new Sonatas. Those with the 3.3L V6 are pretty peppy and they can be quite luxurious as well. As far as reliability, you have an awesome warranty to go with it. That's something you'll never get in ANY used car.

I was just thinking Sonata myself. One was parked outside our townhouse a couple of days ago (I guess someone was visiting a neighbor) and I found myself scoping it out a lot. I hear that the power and handling are surprising.

I just did a Build Your Own on the Hyundai website, and I'm pretty amazed. $23K optioned to the gills. Not bad at all.

You can get a new leftover 2005 Magnum RT for under $25k, or a used 300C.

I would say g-35 4door. Not sure if it is in the price range, but verynice cars reliable and very adult looking and almost a 300hp engine! Although if you don't plan to mod and just use the car from point A to point B I agree with the Sonata.

In the OP's request, he said image car. All Hyundais are utilitarian vehicles that carry zero status. Perception is everything so I wuld stay the fock away from a Hyundai.

Beg to differ .. he said image, not status. Hyundais certainly have an image, particularly new upper models -- that you're economic and smart. (Have you seen the new Sonata and Azera? Not utilitarian in my dictionary...)

Now if he was going for status, I'd say otherwise.
