Yeah, unfortunately UofM killed my GPA. I assume partial responsibility, but I also think with a big university name comes increased competition among students along with cockier, less helpful staff. To me, UofM professors are people with chips on their shoulders from not getting that MIT position. Don't get me wrong, they are all brilliant, but in terms of resourcefulness they are definitely lagging. Point in case, I just took my Cell Bio exam and the professor emailed all students asking not to contact him regarding the exam since his answers are the "right" answers. Quote, "Don't undermine yourself by asking me questions, when you know well that the answers in the key are the only solutions."

You'd think so. Even with a big name like University of Michigan to back it up, this is not sufficient. I believe you really need a few good years outside University research to get that added cushion on to the salary end. In my opinion, this field is very bias when it comes to experience, regardless of innovation or novel ideas one may have.
