I have a leak in a pipe going out to one of my outdoor taps. Naturally, it is covered by the drywall ceiling in my basement rec room. It would seem, however, that it is along one of the walls (judging from where the pipe leaves the house) which should make things easier.

What would be the best way to open a hole in the drywall so that I can find and fix the leak? Should I cut with a drywall saw, or could I do it with a knife? I am also looking to avoid any wiring that might be up there.

Thanks in advance.
