Hey,
I was wondering if you had noticed the stuttering problem that seems to be commmon [but not universal] on 2000 SVTs. The car will stutter and surge between 2000 & 3000 RPMs when you get on the gas more than about halfway.
If not, then I'd really like to get together and take a look at your car because I've got about 10 people that are really interested in finding out what's broken (including me -- it really ruins the driving experience). I think it may be a specific production run [ie. a bad component or something], as I've had at least 3 people say that they have *not* had this problem.
Please email me off-list. Apologies if I've asked this before, as my memory is getting worse each year ;-).
Thanks!

not sure!?! if its what i think it is i may have the problem.. the only thing is that it seems like it takes a while to wind up at 2 - 3 k rpm and doesnt launch till after that. is that what you mean? when i put the kkm on there the problem worsened. took it off...

jj, Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope she gets better soon. When you say 'not much power', what exactly do you mean? Dyno charts I've seen from properly running cars show significantly more torque [acceleration] available at 2500 RPM than anywhere else on the curve, so the car accelerates faster in 2nd gear at 2500 than at 5000 RPM. [still not as fast as 1st gear at 5000 RPM, but do you understand what I mean?]. If there's significantly better high-RPM acceleration than low RPM in the same gear then you probably have this problem. There's probably a better description here: http://contour.org/forums/Forum3/HTML/001875.html ------------------ 92 SHO, 213k, 14.78@96.3 00 Contour SVT, 9.5k, stock

When I raced my brother in his Focus( headers, intake, chip ...) he pulls me until I hit about 4000 -4500 rpms and then I start running him down and literally go right by ..my top end will run down his low end torque ... I can't get the start he gets... weight, torque, driver ability, any or all of the above ?? ... jj
