Heres my stable of rides: (mines on the right) I hate when people judge who you are by what you drive. You might judge me as a redneck hick in the truck or a teenage ricer in the green car. I just like different things and thats me. I'm sure the dude that has that Dodge prob drives something else also.

On those wheels/tires?? Do you have ANY idea what a moment of inertia is without a google search?

I=1/2MR^2
I = that feeling the morning after
M = amount of scoth (in ml)
R = ratio of beer to food over time
Assumptions: food = Mexican w/ heavy bean content, beer is cheap stomach twisting ish
Conclusion: gas (L/hour expunged) would be a problem over time in vehicle (small compartmentalized space)

You obviously have no idea what a chipped diesel is capable of do you? More power and better fuel economy...what a concept

also the fact of when lifted, with larger tires, you change the gear ratio in the axle to accomidate for larger tires. you can get back to almost factory gas mileage and speedo reading by just that alone. then along with a chip/tuner, you get more performance than stock, plus the new added look, and functionality.
But some car people dont understand that, and are very closed minded to people outside their lil circle.

The truck is very comfortable and easy to drive with good roadability.
My only complaint is fuel milage.
On the open road at 65mph and no load milage averages about 14mpg and towing a 14,000 lb 5th wheel fuel consumption is about 9-12 mpg.
Okay. Here are some numbers on stock diesel 3500s. I suppose it would be possible to get 20ish mpg with a good chip. But I don't think you realize what those massive tires do. Truckin' magazine took a Ram and dyno'd it before and after putting tires not even that big on. After the large tires, it was over 20hp less, they had to chip it just to get back to stock power. So I seriously doubt someone could get 25mpg with THAT particular setup. But I'm perfectly willing to concede my argument if you'll provide credible sources stating otherwise.

there are many more factors that go into loss of power and mpg after the fact of larger tires, and lift. the wider the tire, the more the power loss. and the larger the diameter tire, the more your gearin and speedo will change, and also results in some power loss.
Going down the highway with those big tires, and a lift, will greatly add to your size and weight, thus making aerodynamics about obsolete.
gear swaps, and power upgrades will net you close to stock performance, if not higher. but you will still have to have enough to overcome the weight. but being a diesel, power upgrades are crazy, so there are not as many troubles as there are for a gasoline powered engine.

This is true, but getting back to stock performance hp-wise does not mean getting gas milage back to where it was. If it was possible to get 10+ MORE mpg by simply altering computer settings (assuming emissions requirements are still met) why would it not be done from the factory?

Stock cummins does alot better then 15mpg. I saw gains of around 3-4mpg with my duramax. That was running stage 3 edge juice with attitude. adds upto 125hp/325lb ft if i remember correctly to stock power numbers....so 400+hp/800+lb ft and around 20-21mpg for a dmax. Stock cummins with a 6speed will see 20-25mpg easily even 7.3L powerstroke fords can get theat with the 6 speed. Maybe with 44inch mudders it might not but it'll do alot better then you think.
