that is something I have yet to understand...that truck could be about 6" lower and have the exact same amount of ground clearance. those huge tires are about the only thing upping the clearance on that truck.
but whatever, I'd take a lowered car with some nice stiff suspension over that anyday.

do you not see how close the tires are to the fender wells? if the truck was any lower than when the suspension flexs, the tires would murder the fenders.

Yeah, after more research I did find some numbers in the 20-25mpg range, but obviously there's no way this truck could do that.

oh, so thats what the 6" lift is for...to prevent rubbing.
i always thought it was for those parking lot speed bumps.

I have to chime in here! Turbo diesel power is the only way to go for trucks and SUV's. Tuning and small mods net huge numbers, and they also net a MPG bump in an already efficient setup like Thinmoto is pointing out.
Also, you can run biodiesel in them as-is, and look to our farmers to fuel them.
There is a point to where lifted trucks are simply grocery getter death traps (for other people, that is). But I do like a small to moderate lift on trucks/SUVs. But, only a lift that improves a vehicles abilities and not make them a top heavy and untrailworthy POS. There is such thing as too big.....
Edit:
Personally, I would go about this big. This Excursion is a perfect example of what I would want to buy (minus the butt ugly grill guard!), if I weren't saving for a home. Turbodiesel for power and good MPG, small lift, nice wheels/tires.....

A coworker has a white excursion similar to that. His has a ~6" lift and it looks like slightly bigger tires. Though his is gas, so crappy gas mileage but he doesn't care. Has TVs in it and a nice system. Good for his 5 kids I reckon.
