I've been catching up on my Saturday Night Lives, and I just saw the one where she was the musical guest. I'd heard of her before, but this wasn't what I was expecting. Not a bad voice, not horrible songwriting... and a freaking body that ah... damn.
So how is she percieved? Teeny bopper popstar, crossover sensation, popular diva, etc.? I don't usually pay attention to this type of music, but I have to say I was impressed.
And holy crap, that stomach... and those hips... OK, that's enough.

I wouldn't say teenie bopper pop star, maybe more towards diva. I think she is pretty big in the Latin music world. I don't particularly care much for that type of music....but she definitely gets my respect. She has alot of talent and even taught herself english so she could could write and sing music in english. Her voice is amazing as well as her dancing abilities. I have no rhythm whatsoever but I would love to take dancing lessons from her...

I'm 1/2 Spanish so I've always had a little interest in Latin music. Most of the music from her you hear on the radio and TV is Top 40 type of music. Tons of other songs by her that I think are much better. But a big difference with her Top 40 stuff and others is that she actually has talent. Oh yeah, and she is soo hot!

Big for a while now in middle and south america. A few years ago she had a english album which went over fairly well here. More well respected then basically every "pop" act out there. Thought she looked better with brown hair. And she is in my top 3 of all time

IIRC she plays guitar in her performances, when she's not rocking those AMAZING hips. But something about her voice alarms and confuses me. It's like...she sounds like Jewel would, if Jewel went Latin. Or like Charo without the campy '70s thing.

iirc she is half columbian and half lebanese(sp?). the hip shaking all of us guys over comes from belly dancing lessons as a kid. mostly she is famous in the latin music circles but she had also done a little work in english. if i had to narrow her down to a category then i would call it english language latin music. i have her first english album and i like it. not too long ago, last year i think, she came out with another enlish album of which i have only heard one song. as previously stated, the biggest difference between shakira and most of the top 40 world is that she actually has talent.

She's a hyper-perfectionist. Once completely scrapped a few songs of one style for another style altogether, then went back to it two weeks later. She's hot as hell. She's only 4'11" (which, IMO, makes her that much hotter). My entire social circle (men and women, including my wife) find her incredibly hot. She looks better with straight, dark hair. She's got talent! If you can find the video for Ojos Asi... you'll never forget it.
