Yeah, probably the same function as the "Y" pipe, but assume it is not a y-shape on the zetec. Dealer had mentioned "y" pipe too, but did not look at it so he perhaps thought it was a V-6. He said while they would like the business, they would be much more expensive than a muffler shop for this sort of thing.
That parts link has something called "front pipe". If this is the part, it is "discounted" to $664 there
...I can see why dealer sent me elsewhere.
