I don't know, but I think its really isn't about the MTX-75 being "better" than the CD4E other than manual vs. slushbox. Both of them need to be taken care of just like the engine, and both have their share of known issues and weaknesses. My ATX died because in 55,000 miles of ownership the fluid had never been changed. I couldn't think of a better way to kill a CD4E. Same with the MTX-75; it should have regular maintenance. My MTX-75 has the typical cold-weather problems. I've been nursing it with fluid changes, but this summer I will have to have it opened up and rebuilt. Anyone who has seen my SVT knows that the previous owner was absolutely meticulous about caring for it, but apparently the transaxle wasn't included.

Unfortunately people have this misconception that trans[missions/axles] can run forever on their own.
