Vietnam was a guerilla war almost unwinable from the get go because of poor morale and the fact that we were trying to sustain a corrupt and disinterested government. you'll find that throughout history that wars are won and lost on the territory of the loser and lost from within, not because of the outside force. Rome was never conquered from without, it was pushed over from without. Germany was never conquered from without, it was in a boxing match and let itself fall apart, twice!

We could deploy half of the NON nuclear major ordinance we have and turn china into the fat kid whose too weak to do anything on the playground, then watch him get beat up by all of the other kids, the only thing that would prevent that is the will of the people, Which sorry to say has always been half that under communism, dictatorships, and generally [censored] leadership that it is under a free society.

Saddam got his ass whooped in a matter of days with something like the 8th largest standing army on the face of the earth vs our 15th or so, then again they didnt want to fight for him. 99% of insurgents dont even fight for him, they fight to get whiteboys off of the sandy part of the map.

Saddamn and Iraq was nothing. Are you really making the comparison between Iraq and the PRC ?

Speaking of the 'will' of the people, at current time that is roughly half a billion chinese ready and willing to die for their country. Comparing Iraq nonetheless is lunacy, Iraq doesn't have anywhere near the manufacturing capacity that China does. Do you realize how many firearms are manufactured in China today ?

Anyway, keep disillusioning yourself -- Jane's pretty much comes to the same conclusion. The US can "win" a war on Chinese soil but it'll have to accept strict conscription and a few million american soldiers dead. And after you've "won" the war, you're going to have to deal with the remaining Chinese and guerilla warfare. Unless we're talking genocide here ...
