This is an important part of a free and open society. We have trials because society needs to know what someone has been charged and convicted of. How would you like it if your government arrested you and did not charge you but instead said "you are the enemy, we know but no one else can?" These are the kind of actions the Soviets took, I do not want the US to do the same. Yes I understand many, if not all, that are being held at Gitmo are no US citizens that does not mean we should not extend the basic rights that or society offers. If anything we are spreading the idea through the Middle East that we are not a free and open society.
