But what about the rest of the car attached to them?

It is OK. It's really not bad considering the price. Just as good/better than most pontiacs (maybe not the GTO, but the GTO cost more).

Though like I said, don't vacuum the carpet.

I test drove one SRT-4 and it rattled and groaned, sounded horrible, uncomfortable seats, shifted bad and it was a brand new car. And my car being 11-12 years old, hit a deer with it, and has 170K on it and it doesn't do ANY of that. I personally don't like the car, sure it is fast but everything else about it is not good at all.

There must have been something wrong with that car or you made that up. They don't make any strange noises (maybe you thought the turbo was something groaning/squeaking), shift fine, and the front seats are quite comfortable (the r/t seats, I haven't set in the viper seats). However the back seat headrests are rock hard, I don't know what dodge was thinking.

proof? I can vouch for them sticking up to quite a bit of abuse. The '03's had slightly weaker axles and the lack of an LSD, but the '04s have been great. Same with '05s

Didn't he SRT-4s have double the welds & additional structurale reinforcement compared to the regular neons?? From what I've seen they're fairly tough, but the interior may be questionable.

Personally, I just wouldn't consider a FWD hot-rod. If it was just for toolin' around, maybe. My Contiques will be my last experiment with FWD performance machines.

Like stated above something must have been wrong with the SRT you drove.

Yes, the SRT is supposed to be better built than a regular Neon. I'll argue all day long that the reliability of the car is as good as any other. As for the interior, I will admit it's hit or miss. I personally don't mind it at all. I only used the front windows in cars where they had power windows all the way around, so the back ones being manual wasn't ever an issue with me. The seats are extremely comfortable to me, and serve their purpose nicely when on a race track or doing some spirited driving.

For 25-28k there's many options:

RWD:

Stang GT
350Z
Solstice GXP (coming soon)
GTO (30k)

FWD:

SRT4
MS3 (coming soon)

AWD:

WRX
MS6 (30k)
EVO (30k)
STi (30k)

If you can realistically only afford 25k, then you've got less options obviously, versus 30k which opens up quite a few more choices.

If you really want an FI'd car I'd stick with either the EVO or STi if you can afford it. Mod-wise there's a great aftermarket for both and modded, in a streetlight race, they are all but unbeatable due to the AWD unless you're going up against another really well set up vehicle with slicks. Both will easily take 400+whp on the stock block with very few problems to boot.

I would take a LGT limited over any WRX. I am not a fan of the WRX and too many people rice them out. LGT's are a lot less common and just as fast if not faster than a normal WRX. (Not STi) Plus they run about $24-25k.

A slightly used evo or sti can be found for under $25k easily, though yes you risk getting a ragged one. But test drive it and look it over carefully and you should be OK.

your just jealous the srt4 will kick the crap out of your car..

I drove one myself and I don't know where your coming from with all those issues, the one I drove was comfortable, not noisy (at least not in a bad way) and yes the back seat was [censored]

and why do you guys go on about how its still a neon? as someone mentioned the welds are doubled.. so there oviously stronger, its almost like you guys seem jealous..

I myself respect srt-4's I love them, and if I ever sold my civic I would defintly consider one, mopar always knows how to build good 4 banger turbos
