Which head unit do you think I should go with. I have had good luck with Pioneers so that is what I'm going to stay with.
Pioneer DEH-P9600MP, $385
Pioneer DEH-P8600MP, $320
Pioneer DEH-P5800MP, $155
/\ Which I don't think would match the green too well/\
Or ol' faithfull (the one I have had in my last Contour for just over a year)
Pioneer DEH-P6700MP, $160

best buy has all Pioneer decks now on clearance to make room for the x800 series. Can get some good deals there, especially if you get an open box item and tell them to lower the price even more. i have always like the 8600

I have to make a plug for Eclipse and MB Quart. 600 Watt Eclipse 4 chanel amp, Eclipse 3434 deck, Eclipse 6" components in the front door and MB Quarts in thr rear. It never dissapoints, louder than it needs to be and with XM radio is always crystal clear. I have that set up in my Silverado.
In the SVT, an older but still capable Sony deck with higher end Pioneer speakers. No bass whatsoever and its really hard to hear anything at cruise.

My first "real" car stereo included a set of MB Quart Components in the doors of my RX-7, powered by an Alpine amp. Simply the best speakers I have owned, , too bad I just can't justify the price anymore, Dang mortgage, LOL. Scott

You cant go wrong with a Pioneer head unit. I would go with either the 3rd or 5th choice. As far as speakers I would save money and get component speakers. They sound better and clearer than regular speakers. I have a pioneer head unit and I have infinity door speakers which do the trick cause they have adjustable tweeter. But go with a component speaker cant beat that. I eventually will do the same and move my infinities to the back doors.
