I would personally go with a CPO Infiniti G20t 5-speed.

My friend is selling his 2004 Altima. Already lowered a bit (aftermarket struts and Eibachs) tint, and a few small changes that it sounds like your friend might want. Only about 30 mins from west Point too.

I like the Focus.
The new Carolla is nice as well.
My next vehicle will be a Truck anyway.
Ranger.

In order(If I wasn't concerned with gas mileage, insurance or inclement weather):

Any unmodified 1987-1993 5.0L "notch" mustang LX 5 speed

1986-87 Grand National or GNX (if you can find one for 15k)

1996-2001 SS Camaro 6 speed

1996 Impala SS (love the Console shifter in the 1996 model)

GMC Syclone or Typhoon (good luck there just finding one)

used SRT-4 Stage II

Find a good, low mileage 1991-1994 SE-R Sentra, get the SR20DET motor and go nuts with hi-po parts with the rest of the money

And, for Us New Englanders,a WRX Impreza...gotta have the AWD

Just my .02 cents

Good luck finding one in decent shape for under 15k!! You'd be doing more than 15K worth of work just to get it up to driving condition!! Decent hoods go for more than 1000 now!

If he wants a BRAND NEW or almost brand new, go for a Honda Civic. Can't beat the gas mileage, the quality, or the immense amount of aftermarket available for it.

You can find the CA version of the car or another one with just the 350 in it for around that much. If it is the GSX or the Stage Ones those are the ones going for bookoo $$$$$$$. Heck sometimes you can get a 455 in them for only $15K if you find a deal. They are an often over looked muscle car Can't wait to overhaul my 66.

i'd tell him that $15k for a car is too much and he should look for a sub-$5k car and invest or save his money somewhere.
