What are some recent examples of good news that the media's missed?

Talk to a military member who has been deployed over there. Civil Affairs, etc. I've been to two presentations by Lt Cols. and seen pictures of the good, etc. 3 elections, GNP is up (I forget the specific percentages), etc. The country IS making progress. If you go specifically off media coverage, one would think its complete anarchy over there.

Too bad the progress you mention is meaningless. The only measure of progress that matters is if Iraq is becoming less of a threat to the civivlized world than it was before we invaded. All indications show that if we left Iraq now it would spiral into anarchy and five years from now it may not be any different, maybe worse.
With a [censored] majority in Iraq and interference from Iran the elections may result in a government very similar to Iran. I thought the flexing of U.S. muscle in the middle east was supposed to scare those rogue nations straight. Instead it has emboldened them because they know we cannot assume another front in the "war on terror." Had we concentrated on straightening out Afganistan, perhaps these nations would have gotten the message that they could be next.
