Talk to someone other than a journalist that's been to Iraq. I'm sure you'll get a more complete picture that way. I know that the few vets I've talked to that are stateside have drastically different stories to tell that what the media insists on puking up night after night...
Most don't paint a perfect or pretty picture, but they don't neglect to talk about the good that they have helped spread during their stay.
