That is actually the method of choice for most mechanics as it doesn't leave as much residue.

I used Berrymans or Gumout spray to hunt for leaks. That's how I found the ones in the vacuum ports on top and the EGR valve. The idle will jump a little. That slime you see is EGR/PCV gunk.

should i be thinking about changing my PCV then? my shop teacher said that that is what it sounds like to him
