I dunno about that... You get a NEW engine that is set up for boost by pros - lots of attention to detail and top quality parts. If you have any qualms about your skills, short on time, or just don't want to get arm-pit deep in oil & grease, this may be a viable option.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I mean the $/HP ratio...Warmonger has boosted his near stock 3L oval port duratec with close to the max hp our cars can handle. I mean if you want to have all that jazz and have the coin to do it...then it is worth it.

Warmonger's engine has proven to put down awesome numbers. I haven't heard of him blowing anything up, or melting anything down, but I don't think he's really put a ton of miles on the setup. Not sure what longevity a stock engine would have compared to a fully built motor? Maybe it's worth having the built motor for peace of mind.

I think war has somewhere in the ballpark of 10k +
Stazi has some decent miles on his 00 SVT...
Scott did 30k miles on his 98 2.5L
I wonder what kinda miles OffroadSVT has on his blown 3L.

I was just talking about getting the Noble cams, not the entire engine.

His current 3L has been running for over 2 years and making 350/350. He's run it with both oval cams and SVT cams. The turbo hybrid 3L (~10.3-10.4 CR) before that was at least running for a year before he sold the motor and turbo piping to build the newer setup. This car is his daily driver and he thrashes on it nearly as much as I do my car. Now he also does meticulous maintenance on it like I do on mine as well.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

I wasn't sure how many miles he had on any of his setups. I could have swore he had a really low mileage car, with turbos on 2 or 3 different motors. I guess the budget side of me would want to go stock block, but the "I just want to drive the car, and not worry about breaking stuff" side of me would want the built block. Tough decisions. Mark

I for one have never let my auto insurance lapse or missed a premium payment and I sure have enjoyed the benefits when getting into an accident. So, for me, I opted to take the same mentality when building up my "race" block. I needed that added insurance that the engine could take the beating that I'm planning on dishing out.
Now, for the 3L Turbo Contour that I'm working on, I don't plan on pushing it any harder than existing proven setups, so I stuck with stock rods/pistons ONLY because it's an 02 Escape block with the revised pistons. I did however opt for a complete block refreshening (reringed block & reworked heads with valve job & new components) as a little insurance since I wanted a "blank slate" to develop my turbo kit on.
