I actually kind of like it. It's a lot smaller in person than you might think from the pics. The base Caliber starts at around $14K... not too bad for an econo-beater.

The only problem with it - and I'm not sure the SRT version addresses this - is that the interior materials are perhaps the cheapest I've ever seen. I got in a Caliber at the auto show. When I closed the door, I thought "this thing is good for about a dozen closes before it breaks." A lot of the switchgear felt the same way.

I might check out the SRT when it comes out to see if I get the same feeling. This car's built on the new Lancer platform, so it will probably have a lot going for it.
