EVERYONE that has the S/C kit before the final jackshaft change had jackshaft failures. Most of them had it happen a few times even.

On that same note I have yet to hear anyone have the final jackshaft revision fail on them though. Then again the kit is now about $1000 more then it was when released and comes with less parts. It would be a nice kit if it was only $3000.

you can get it for $2900 to $3100 Call vortec and ask for the shops that can give you the best deal on the kit. Ask for a few places they recommend and this should be the price range you should see.

I bought Simon's kit from him with the original jackshaft and used it with no problems for 15k miles. I sold it to another ceger (Auiotour) and after 100 miles it blew the seal and stripped the splines. He said one of the jackshaft connecting bolts was loose so I'm assuming it wasn't perfectly lined up (as the old style one had to be). Techinically I had no problems, but both Simon and Llane had problems with it before and after me. For roughly $1500 it was a great used buy, but definately in need of a knukonceptz upgrade.

And I took a ride in that car. After close to 12 hours of driving, I and other fellow NY CEGER's pulled up at the clarion hotel, so meet several "local" CEG'ers, including mark. We all decided to head out for a bite to eat, and somehow I managed to hitch a ride in marks car. I have to say, it was the fastest I have ever gone in a contour, and probably the fastest I have ever gone.

Mark took us up to speeds faster than 140mph. The other SVT's following us faded away into the distance faster than i've ever seen before, and we managed to burn 1/8th of a tank of gas on that quick little run!!

The power was very linear, noticeable...but not as noticeable as a car with more torque. I was really surprised to see how fast we were actually going when he let off the gas.

The car was also amazingly stable. The faster we went, the more it seemed to hunker down onto the road. I have to say, the moonroof flutterint in the wind was pretty scary though.

Thank you mark, I will never forget that ride.

Nobody's mentioned Chris Wong yet? cawong11 is his screen name, IIRC. He has (had?) the S/C on his 2.5L with an intercooler.

I haven't seen him around here in a long time.

Yup, he's running an S/C'd 2.5 with one of my intercooler kits. I never did see any dyno results from it.

You are very welcome, and when the new project is up and running (hopefully by SZ07) I'll be more then willing to give rides in that also. I promise it will be just as fast as the old car, only with a radically different approach. As for detail on what I'm doing... Move along there's nothing to see here.
