Have you been inside a Legacy? Have you been inside a 6? Even my base model Legacy has interior materials that make the 6 look like it was manufactured by Fisher Price. I am not 6-hating either, I actually wanted one, but the dealership wanted to use their financing, not mine.

Yes. A fair percentage, at least 50%, of owners report total loss of boost as temperatures rise. And we're still in cool months too. The intercooler is top-mount, and positioned in such a way it sits over the exhaust manifold which glows literally red-hot, trapping huge sums of hot air in a pocket between the engine, firewall, manifold, and the intercooler.

The engine also absolutely requires 93 octane. Anything less also results in total loss of boost.

While the Legacy certainly has a great interior, and an exceptional one by Subbie standards, the MazdaSpeed6 has a unique interior all its' own. It's made of better materials, that fit better, and have a significantly better finish on them, than the standard Mazda6 does.

Thats interesting to hear. A recent issue of Car & Driver had a comparo between the mazdaspeed 6 and 4 other cars, in the issue, they made note of the 6's "low-rent" interior. In fact, here is a link:

FWIW, I don't think the 6's interior is bad by any stretch, I just think that Subaru did a pretty good job emulating VW in terms of interior fit and finish.

I've got that C&D issue, and for whatever reason, they hated on the MS6. Hard. One of the main reasons was that they tested a base model -- even though a fully-loaded model would have been within their desired dollar value for that comparison test. Choosing not to test a loaded model and then complaining about the lack of features on the car you got (each and every one of which was available on the loaded version) is just bad testing.

I will agree that compared to the VW and the TSX in their test, the Mazda interior wouldn't hold up in most people's eyes (even though, as I recall, C&D liked the interior of the base Mazda6 in previous reviews, and the MS6 is decidedly improved). But I truly can't see how it could be called "low-rent" by anyone outside of a 7-series owner or something.

And rating the Accord second place, even about the TSX? C&D is all over the map these days.

They are both overpriced. I took my Legacy in for service, and the dealership had a 5K markup on their allotment (read: 1) of Spec B's. That thing is arguably overpriced by 5K in the first place.

At any rate, in a couple of months, you will be able to buy a ho-hum V6 camry with similar HP numbers to the MS6. Scary.

I can see why one person would like one more than another (namely for the full vs. part-time AWD), but calling the MS6 "a joke" in comparison? Come on.

They are practically identical performers in virtually every way. If there was any edge all to either in performance it'd likely be the MS6; with a rated (and so far it seems under-rated) extra 25 horsepower and 30 lb/ft of torque and only a little over 100lbs more to pull and a 6-speed rather than a 5-speed transmission.

I'd take a LGT over a M6. The 6 interior just looks cheap and that damn integrated HU is a deal breaker for me.
