After the dealio feel through on the 05' Mustang GT last year my "back-up" purchase was going to be the MS6, but it wasn't coming out when it was supposed to Upon reading about the car and hearing what Hector has been reading in the Mazda 6 forum maybe it was a good thing I didn't get the car! I'm reading about the car runnin' from 14.0 to 14.8, the later trapping at 86 mph, WTF is up with that I did test drive the car and I really do like it, but somethings up with that intercooler, like its "up" instead of "out in front" Hector read that one dyno'd at 205 hp and then they iced down the intercooler and it then pulled 230 hp, nice work He also read about the car losing power, only to be fixed by pulling over and shuting off the motor and restarting it As far as the Subie goes, well, they mag made a good point, get the standard Legacy GT and hit the aftermarket and save thousands I do like that car as well, very understated and could be made into an "adult" STi

anyone that says the MS6 is over priced is seriously retarted, I dont see any cars with AWD, 274hp, heated seats, navigation system, HID's etc. for that price, sure i could get a G35X for more, and be like every other tampoon loving G35 owner.
I love G35s, but I don't own any tampons.
Oh wait. That's not what you said.

Dismissing a car because you don't like the front fascia? If everyone shared your philosophy, then Subaru would have never sold a single WRX, and BMW would have never sold a 745.
We mostly buy cars on looks. Subarus are FUGLY. That is about the only reason I would have bought a EVO vs. a STi.
Looks are also in the eyes of the beholder. So people who need glasses buy Subarus, or Dodge Neons
The rest of us buy cars that look like they have class.

Hey, I totally was on the same track you were. Last year when I was going to buy a car I wanted to get the MS6 but it kept getting delayed, to the point that I said screw it and I was going to buy an Evo. But the styling on the EVO was sort of so-so and my wife Hated it. I liked it, but not enough to buy it without her liking it too. We ended up settling on the '05 Volvo S40 that is in my sig. It had all the same criterion, turbo, 6spd and AWD and was in the same price range. However the power was less, but the build quality has been Awesome. I have had it a year almost and have about 13K miles on it and it is still tight as hell, fun to drive and looks outstanding.

OK, that seems a little shallow.

I agree, the STI is ugly, but not all subaru's are.

Implying what? That my Legacy is classless? Yet, your vehicles of choice include a 3XX HP contour.

Haha, thats my moms car, 2005 S40 T5 AWD, and my dads car is the 06 MS6.
Oh yea hector, im pretty sure the car can get High 13's with a decently good driver. The car is a low 5 second 0-60.

I wasn't quoting Hectors numbers, but rather reading right out of the car mags, all of them. My most recent one had the MS6 runnin' a 14.8@86 mph and another one had it runnin' a 14.0@99 mph. Lets also consider the fact that the MS6 is also almost 3800 lbs, close to the GTO with alot less torque, something thats needed to move almost 2 tons into the 13's where the stock MS6 doesn't rear its head, sorry You can look for yourself on the Mazda 6 forum where the owners are complaining about a power loss, hmm, sounds familar (RX-8 a couple years ago) I hope Mazda gets this taken care of or someone actually builds an intercooler that works and the "bugs" get worked out of it. I'm sure Hector will read this and clue you in on what he read over there BTW, FWIW, I still like the car

Because they didn't use Premium fuel, noted right in the article if you're looking at the one I think you are.

It's not even 3600lbs actually. And if the one dyno run that actually was completed fault-free is any indication (and it's not), it's doing 277lb/ft to the wheels, so it's not "a lot less torque" than an '04 GTO (~300lb/ft to the wheels) actually.
Am I claiming it's as fast as a GTO? Hell no. But the '04 GTO is a 13.2s car. The MS6 can be a lot slower than it and still run in the 13s. It's practically dead-even spec-wise with a Legacy GT which can run 13s all day, so there's no reason to think that the MS6 can't.

RX-8 Owners complained about a lack of power because the engine was over-rated. Mazda6 owners complain about a temporary loss of power brought on by a software fault. There's quite a bit of difference there.

As I said before, there's not a person on this planet that reads more Mazda6 forums than I do and I already addressed Hector's post about the power of the MS6 as being utter nonsense. He's taken one dyno run and made a claim that "most" MazdaSpeed6s are making X amount of power, despite the fact that only two owners have ever dynoed their Mazda6s and posted results on any Mazda6 Forum that I know about, and both of those had problems on the dyno and neither got a full run that could be considered a truly accurate result.
