Quote: The MS6 is a coppled together monster 6. The subaru was designed from the onset as a 4wd sports sedan. The MS6 is a preformance joke. There are tons of posts from owners who are complaining because the car isn't performing like it should. Look at the latest comparo with the MS6 against other AWD sports sedans. The engine ran out of steam and had the same 0-100 number as a toyota camry 4 cylinder. There is heak soak and octane problems... it makes less HP then the suby when you put 91 in it and after some agressive driving it turns the boost off. As mentioned before the awd is an afterthought
The MazdaSpeed6 has some serious teething problems, there's no doubt; all are related to software issues that need to be resolved though, nothing mechanically serious. And it's anything but "cobbled together" and it's AWD is not an "afterthought" just because the car it's based on doesn't carry that equipment. I doubt too many people would call the Mitsubishi EVO a bunch of "cobbled together afterthoughts" just because it differs significantly from a Lancer.
Mazda is betting its' future on the underpinnings of the MazdaSpeed6, with FoMoCo hedging some serious bets on it as well. Mazda will have 3 cars based on that drivetrain within 2 years and Ford will likely have at least 1 other and possibly as many as 3 cars using it as well. You can be damn sure that any problems that the MazdaSpeed6 has are getting the full attention of Mazda before its' woes become standard on major production models rather than a limited edition vehicle.
"Test Bed", maybe. "Afterthought", anything but.
